Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Architect with a strong background in the Sports & Leisure to join our Client’s design team. The role will involve leading and contributing to the design and delivery of high-quality sports, fitness, and leisure facilities, using Revit as the primary design and coordination tool.
The successful Candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, and clients to deliver projects from concept through to completion, ensuring design excellence, technical accuracy, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop architectural designs for sports and leisure projects, including leisure centres, stadiums, gyms, swimming pools, and community facilities
- Produce and coordinate Revit across all RIBA work stages
- Prepare detailed design, technical drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, and specialist consultants using BIM workflows
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, planning conditions, and relevant sports and accessibility standards
- Contribute to concept design, feasibility studies, and client presentations
- Review and manage technical information produced by junior staff
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
- Support project delivery to programme, budget, and quality targets
Required Skills & Experience
- ARB-registered Architect (or equivalent professional qualification)
- Proven experience working on Sports & Leisure
- Strong proficiency in Revit (essential)
- Solid understanding of BIM Level 2 processes and coordination
- Experience across multiple RIBA stages, particularly technical design and delivery
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, planning processes, and construction detailing
- Ability to manage workload independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and coordination skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience with large-scale or complex leisure facilities
- Familiarity with sustainable design and low-carbon strategies
- Knowledge of specialist sports design standards (e.g. Sport England guidance)
- Experience mentoring junior staff
